A great habit of getting into is making sure that your air conditioning unit is clean and free of debris and surrounding plants.
Tip 1: While the AC is OFF, spray it down with a garden hose to clean out the fins surrounding the unit. With your normal nozzle, point the hose from about 12-18" into the sides of all the unit. Aiming at an angle from top to bottom then bottom to top. Make sure to get all sides of the unit.
You will likely see a lot of dirt and debris falling down to the casing bottom; you should spray that out as well.
Tip 2: Be sure mulch, high grass, shrubs, and other organic materials are a bit away from the unit. The more open area around your unit, the better your AC will run!
Tip 3: Always contact Viccarone HVAC for further maintenance and disassembling anything on the unit so we can clean from the inside of the case, if necessary. We do not suggest homeowners doing this themselves unless they have electrical knowledge.
Tip 4: Inspect and change your furnace filters often. Record the date of changing out the filter and try to keep up on a quarterly basis for most filter media to be changed out.
Remember, even in summer months, airflow is still running through the furnace filtration for cooling season, so keep up on your filters as it is CRITICAL for effective operations.
